Berhampur University and BOBP IGO Forge Partnership for Collaborative Research in Marine Ecology

Berhampur University (BU) has formalized a significant collaboration with the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Government Organization (BOBP-IGO), a regional fisheries body dedicated to enhancing livelihood opportunities for fisher folks in the Bay of Bengal region.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked during a signing ceremony attended by Sachidananda Nayak, BU’s Registrar, and P Krishnan, Director of BOBP-IGO, in the presence of Geetanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor of BU, and various faculty members.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive agreement for collaborative research in the field of marine ecology. Over the next five years, both organizations commit to engaging in joint academic activities, including student and scientist exchanges, collaborative research initiatives, and the exploration of external funding opportunities to support academic pursuits.

This partnership is poised to contribute significantly to advancing knowledge and promoting sustainable practices in the Bay of Bengal region.
