Cyclone Dana Approaches Fishermen Warned to Stay Ashore

Vishakhapatnam: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for north coastal Andhra Pradesh as Cyclone ‘Dana’ intensifies over the Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been strictly advised to avoid venturing into the sea until October 25 due to dangerous conditions.

The storm, expected to make landfall between Puri and Sagar Island late Thursday or early Friday, is likely to bring heavy rains and strong winds to Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and nearby districts. Authorities are working closely with the Navy to bring back any boats still at sea.

Special Chief Secretary RP Sisodia assured that emergency teams are on standby, and coastal residents will be moved to safety if required. Essential supplies have been stocked, and restoration efforts will begin immediately if services are disrupted. Fishermen are urged to stay off the waters and prioritize safety until the cyclone subsides.
