About the Programme
The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture (RGCA), an Aquaculture Technology Incubation Centre of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Govt. of India, is pleased to announce a two-day hands-on training programme on “PCR Techniques and its Applications in Aquaculture Pathology.”
Objective:
The main objective of this short-term training programme is to provide hands-on training in basic molecular techniques. The goal is to develop skilled personnel who can utilize these techniques to detect pathogens affecting aquaculture species, thereby mitigating disease-related losses.
Training Highlights
Participants will gain practical experience in the following areas:
- Common Aquaculture Diseases and Detection Strategies: Learn about prevalent diseases in aquaculture and various strategies for their detection.
- Sample Collection: Techniques for collecting samples for disease diagnosis through PCR and histopathology analysis.
- DNA Extraction: Methods for extracting DNA from samples.
- Quality and Quantity Determination of Extracted DNA: Techniques for assessing the quality and quantity of DNA.
- Gel Electrophoresis: Understanding the process of gel electrophoresis.
- DNA Amplification (PCR): Procedures for amplifying DNA using PCR to detect OIE-listed diseases/pathogens.
- Basics of Histopathology: Demonstrations on basic histopathology techniques.
Note: Approximately 80% of the training will involve hands-on practical sessions.
Registration Details
- Registration Fee: Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two thousand only). This fee includes course materials (protocol handouts), a training certificate, and tea & snacks for the duration of the training. The fee does not cover travel, boarding, lodging, and other personal expenses.
- Target Audience: College/University students, research scholars, and academics interested in gaining basic hands-on training in PCR techniques and aquaculture pathology.
