Madhya Pradesh Takes Decisive Action Closure of 25000 Open Air Meat and Fish Shops Spotlight on Fisheries

In a rapid response, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who assumed office on December 13, has implemented a directive leading to the shutdown of 25,000 open-air meat and fish shops across Madhya Pradesh within the last 25 days. Signifying a renewed emphasis on fisheries, the Chief Minister underscored his commitment to enforcing the ban on open-air sales of meat and fish.

“I instructed the removal of shops selling meat and fish in the open. Today, approximately 25,000 such establishments have been closed down in the state,” declared Mr. Yadav. This directive, issued shortly after his swearing-in, reflects a dedication to restructuring the state’s approach to the sale of meat and fish, now prioritizing a more regulated and controlled environment.

Mr. Yadav made this announcement while inaugurating 187 developmental projects valued at ₹218 crore in Ujjain, emphasizing that the state’s developmental endeavours will persist without compromise. With the closure of open-air meat and fish shops, the government’s focus on fisheries is poised to bring about a notable transformation in how these sectors are managed in the state.
