Chennai: Distinguished marine scientists, policymakers, and representatives from 16 regional fisheries bodies spanning 80 countries in the Indo-Pacific region are set to convene in Mahabalipuram for a three-day conclave addressing climate change in marine fisheries. The International Conclave on Mainstreaming Climate Change into International Fisheries Governance is scheduled to commence on October 17 and will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Fisheries, Parshottam Rupala.
This significant event is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Central government’s Department of Fisheries and the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO). The primary objective of the conclave is to facilitate discussions among global experts and stakeholders to develop guidelines for climate-resilient fisheries management. Additionally, the conclave aims to formulate strategies for the effective integration of climate change considerations into international fisheries governance.
