The Meghalaya State Cabinet gave its nod on Tuesday for the amendment of the Meghalaya Fisheries Service Rules, 2017.
Cabinet Minister Marcuise N Marak, addressing the media, announced that the amendment aims to include M.Sc in fishery science and M.Sc in applied aquaculture in the list of exemptions from the mandatory training courses. This addition complements the existing exemptions for BF.Sc graduates, who undergo a four-year course, as mandated by Rule 1 and Rule 3 of the MFSR, 2017.
In addition to this crucial amendment, the Cabinet also greenlit the proposed list of holidays for the upcoming year, 2023-24. Minister Marak disclosed that the total number of holidays, encompassing general holidays (including Saturdays and Sundays), stands at 23.
Under the Negotiable Instrument Act, holidays, including Saturdays and Sundays, amount to 22 days. Moreover, there will be a special holiday on account of Rev Thomas Jones Day, and restricted holidays (including Saturdays and Sundays) will be observed for 9 days.
