Five fishermen from Andhra Pradesh’s Chirala region, who went missing after venturing into the sea, have been rescued safely following a search operation by Marine Police and Revenue officials.

The fishermen belonged to Oduru village in Chirala mandal. After their boat did not return, its owner, Pikki Appalaraju, alerted the authorities.

Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla directed officials to initiate search efforts. Marine Police and Muthukur Revenue officials subsequently launched an operation using a patrol boat on Tuesday morning, November 3.

The missing fishermen were eventually located at sea and brought safely to Krishnapatnam Port in Nellore district.

Following their rescue, all five were shifted to a hospital for medical examination under the supervision of the Marine Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Officials Appreciate Coordinated Rescue Efforts

Collector Himanshu Shukla appreciated the Marine Police and Revenue officials for their coordinated efforts in locating and rescuing the fishermen.

The successful operation brought relief to the fishermen’s families and the local fishing community, which had been concerned about their safety after the boat failed to return.

Safety Remains a Priority for Fishing Communities

The incident highlights the risks fishermen face during fishing trips and the importance of timely communication when boats fail to return.

Coastal authorities and fishing communities need effective communication and emergency response arrangements to ensure that missing boats and fishermen can be located quickly.

The safe return of all five fishermen brought the search operation to a positive conclusion.
