Both founders are postgraduates from the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) and recognised the untapped potential of premium mud crab farming as a high-value aquaculture enterprise.
Established in 2022, the Kochi-based startup has spent the past four years conducting extensive research, field trials, and technology validation to develop affordable and scalable farming systems suitable for Indian conditions.

To overcome this limitation, STEM Systems developed Aquamin, an artificial brackish water mineral formulation that recreates the water conditions needed for successful mud crab fattening.
The formulation allows farmers to prepare suitable water for crab culture without relying entirely on naturally available brackish water sources.
