Madurai The Coastal Security Group (CSG) marine police came to the aid of a fishing boat that faced engine failure and was drifting off the Thondi coast in Tamil Nadu. The mechanized fishing vessel, carrying a six-member crew, set sail from Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district on Sunday night.
Encountering a technical snag that resulted in engine failure, the distressed boat began drifting in the open sea. Fortunately, marine police from Devipattinam, conducting their routine patrol around 11 am, spotted the vessel in distress. The fishermen on board urgently signalled for help, prompting the CSG boat to intervene.
Following the instructions of senior officials SP Hariharan Prasad and ADSP Balakrishnan, Marine Police Inspector S Kanagaraj coordinated the rescue operation. The CSG boat successfully towed the stranded fishing vessel back to Sayalkudi, ensuring the safe return of both the crew and the boat on Monday evening.
