FISHERMAN IN RAPALLI VILLAGE FINDS BABY CROCODILE IN FISH TRAP

In a startling incident, a fisherman from Rapalli village in the mandal, Kunarapu Ramayya, discovered a baby crocodile caught in his fish trap set in the Godavari River. Upon noticing the unexpected find, measuring about a foot in length, Ramayya was alarmed and informed the nearby residents.

he carefully removed the trap from the river and brought it back to his home for safekeeping. Concerned about the safety of both the crocodile and the community, the locals alerted Deputy Range Officer Sunitha and the Forest Department about the discovery.

Responding swiftly, Deputy Range Officer Sunitha, along with a team of forest officials, arrived at the scene. The officials safely took custody of the baby crocodile and ensured its well-being. After assessing the situation, they transported the crocodile to the Sripada Yellampalli Project, where it was released into its natural habitat.

Forest officials estimated the weight of the baby crocodile to be approximately six kilograms. The incident created a buzz among the villagers, who gathered to witness the rare sight of the crocodile before it was taken away. This unexpected encounter has highlighted the presence of crocodiles in the Godavari River and the importance of safeguarding wildlife while ensuring community safety.
