ADF Showcases Aquaculture Investment Opportunities at Barcelona Seafood Expo

The Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) proudly represented Saudi Arabia at the 2024 Seafood Expo Global held in Barcelona from April 23 to 25. Organised by the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, the Kingdom’s pavilion featured six Saudi companies specialising in fish and seafood production.

At the expo, ADF highlighted its pivotal role in financing aquaculture projects, emphasising its commitment to food security and sustainable resource management. The fund supports various fishery activities, including fish hatcheries, shrimp farming, floating cages, aquaponics, and inland fish farming.

Saudi Arabia’s participation underscores the significant potential of aquaculture projects, which are rapidly gaining traction in global food production. With extensive coastlines along the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, the Kingdom offers ideal conditions for fish farming in floating cages. Additionally, closed inland water systems provide opportunities for freshwater aquaculture.

By showcasing its aquaculture potential, Saudi Arabia aims to capitalise on the growing demand for seafood while contributing to sustainable food production practices. The Kingdom’s commitment to advancing aquaculture aligns with its broader efforts to diversify its economy and enhance food security for its citizens.
