Thundershowers Forecasted in Kerala Fishing Restricted Due to Adverse Weather Conditions

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting the likelihood of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala. The presence of a cyclonic circulation in the eastern Indian Ocean near the equator, along with another circulation in the Southeast Arabian Sea and the Middle East Arabian Sea, is expected to bring moderate to intermediate rainfall to Kerala in the next two days.

The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has cautioned about the possibility of waves measuring 1.0 to 1.5 meters and storm surge along the Kerala coast until 11:30 pm tonight. Strong winds and adverse weather conditions, reaching speeds of 40 to 45 kmph and occasionally up to 55 kmph, are anticipated along the south Kerala coast and Lakshadweep coast today and tomorrow.

In light of the expected rough seas, the IMD has advised against fishing activities on the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep. However, there are no restrictions on fishing along the coast of Karnataka. Public safety is paramount, and individuals are urged to adhere to the instructions of authorities, staying away from danger zones. Additionally, the IMD has issued a warning against beach visits and recreational activities in the sea, emphasizing complete avoidance to ensure public safety.
